LP Short Stops - Vinyl Record Dividers
Choosing your wood.
Oak is warm with an open grain. Ash is paler and brighter, with a clean, Scandinavian feel. Walnut is the richest and darkest, with deep chocolate tones. All are solid, sustainably sourced hardwoods — the choice is about the look you want.

One pair of hands
Designed, cut and finished by one maker in Cardiff — no production line.
Real timber
Solid oak, ash and walnut — grain and character, not a printed finish.
Built to last
Proper joinery and a hard-wax-oil finish, made to be handed on.
Freestanding
No fitters, no mess — it arrives ready to use and moves with you.
The details
The divider that knows where to stop.
Most record dividers slide all the way in and disappear between the sleeves, or sit at a different depth every time you put one back. LP Short Stops are A–Z vinyl record dividers designed to fix both.
They're made for collections on open shelving and record cabinets, and laser-cut in our Cardiff workshop from real oak or ash.
They bring a bit of record-shop order to a collection at home, and look the part doing it.
-
Positive stop
A shoulder catches the front edge of the shelf, so every divider stops in the same place and the set sits in a dead-straight line. -
Letters always on show
Whether your sleeves sit flush with the front of the shelf or up to 60 mm back, the letters stay proud of the records and never get buried.
Records set further back on deep shelves?
Our LP Full Stops run the full depth. -
Cut-through lettering
Laser-cut right through the wood, so they read clearly from across the room. -
Real wood, dead flat
Oak or ash veneer on a stable core, just 4 mm thick, so they slip between sleeves without taking up space.
No fixings, nothing to fit. Slide them in, and move them as your collection grows.

CHOOSING A SET
- Pack of 6: A–D, E–H, I–L, M–P, Q–T, U–Z. Ideal for a growing collection.
- Pack of 13: A–B through Y–Z. For a collection that's outgrown six.
- Pack of 26: one for every letter, and the best value per divider.
LEFT OR RIGHT?
Because the letters are cut right through, each divider reads correctly from one side only, and the shoulder means it can't be turned round. So we make two versions. Think about where you usually stand when you look along your shelf. If it's from the left-hand end, choose Left. If it's from the right-hand end, choose Right.

CHOOSING A FINISH
Oak is warm and open-grained. Ash is paler and brighter, with a cleaner, more Scandinavian look. Want a splash of colour?
LP Short Stops are also coming soon in matt acrylic, in a range of colours.
CARE
Wipe with a dry cloth. Keep away from water, as the edges don't like getting wet.
FAQ
Left or right: which do I need?
Stand where you normally browse. If you look along your records from the left-hand end of the shelf, choose Left. If you look from the right-hand end, choose Right. The guide above shows both.
Will they work on my shelves?
If your shelf has a front edge, yes. They work on open shelving, record cabinets and cube units, and they're compatible with IKEA Kallax.
Which pack do I need?
As a rough guide: 6 for under a hundred records, 13 once a section gets hard to browse, and 26 for large collections where every letter needs its own place.
What's it made from?
Real oak or ash veneer on a stable core. We use it for our decor because it laser-cuts beautifully, stays dead flat, and won't warp or split the way thin solid timber can.
Made by one pair of hands in Cardiff.

Care
Dust with a dry or barely-damp cloth — never soaking wet. Keep out of direct sunlight and off direct heat, and wipe spills straight away so they don't sit and mark. Re-oil once a year with Fiddes hard wax oil to refresh the finish.
Real wood — grain and colour vary from piece to piece, and solid timber shifts a little with the seasons. That's character, not a fault.
Questions
Is it ready to use? Yes — everything is freestanding, with no fixing or fitting.
Which timber can I choose? Solid oak, ash or walnut, depending on the piece and the options above.
Can I commission a different size? Often, yes — head to Commissions and tell us what you're after.
